Letting AI Interface with Your App with MCPs

We are entering a new era of user interaction. It's being built right before our very eyes and changing rapidly. As crazy as it sounds, soon each one of us will get our own Jarvis capable of performing actually useful tasks for us with a completely different user interaction mechanism than we're used to. But someone's gotta give Jarvis the tools to perform these tasks, and that's where we come in. In this talk, Kent will live code an MCP server and use it with an AI assistant to help us catch the vision of what this future could look like and our role in it.

Modern Day Mashups: How AI Agents are Reviving the Programmable Web

At the risk of showing my age, I invite you to travel back with me to the early 2000s… a period of web development known as the Mashup Era. Mashups were apps that mixed and matched APIs from different vendors to create new services. This was such an exciting time for web developers, as the possibilities seemed endless. APIs like Google Maps, Twitter, and Flickr gave developers access to data that they could use to create interactive user experiences that were simply delightful. However, the excitement eventually fizzled as developers realized they had to maintain these applications which were often side projects created for fun. In this talk, we’ll explore how AI Agents are bringing fun and creativity back to web development and giving new life to the “programmable web”.

Lessons Learned from the AI Battlefield: Automating Browsers Using Natural Language

Writing end-to-end tests using natural language sounds like a dream - you just say what you want, and you get it. But does it actually work? And is it fast and reliable enough to be practical? In this 15-minute lightning talk, I'll unpack what really happens when you try to drive browser automation with AI and natural language. From "it doesn't work" hallucinations to "it works, but come back in an hour", we've seen the good, the bad, and the hilarious. I'll share the key lessons learned from cutting through the hype train and building real-world products in this space: what surprised us, what slowed us down, and what's finally starting to click.

The Built-in Browser-based Babelfish

AI progress is running away on the server-side, where the big GPUs live, but the web platform is never that far behind. In this talk we're going to explore the incredible applications you can build in the browser today and in the near future. You'll see how to build an offline-capable, speech to speech language translation app, a babelfish, using nothing but the web platform. Through this app we'll explore the different ways we can run AI models in the browser today and what may be built into the browser in the future. From low-level standards to high-level experiments, you'll learn how to work with AI on the web.

Case Study: Building Accessible UI using Github Co-pilot

We’ll dissect the Adobe Express website, zooming in on accessibility considerations and the challenges I faced in implementing them. You’ll see how Copilot helped improve interactivity with suggestions like tabindex, ARIA attributes, and keydown event handling—but also why it’s crucial not to take these suggestions at face value. Much like pair programming, Copilot is a powerful tool, but the final responsibility lies with you, the developer. Join me as we explore compelling use cases for GitHub Copilot, examine its strengths and limitations, and discuss how to navigate complex UI widgets using keyboard events and ARIA roles. By the end of this session, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how to harness AI tools to build not just functional, but truly accessible web applications.

The Secret To Fast TypeScript

Building apps with TypeScript is the norm these days, but there's one major pain point—speed. At first, everything runs smoothly, but as your project grows, build times drag, your editor lags, and even basic code completion slows to a crawl. The good news? A solution has been hiding in TypeScript’s documentation for years—overlooked but incredibly effective. In this talk, we’ll uncover this hidden gem, optimize your setup, and keep TypeScript fast as your app scales.

Meet The Web Framework From The Future

What would you envision your futuristic web framework to be like? What kind of properties would it have, and what would it enable for you? For me, the future of web frameworks should be minimal but type-safe, powerful but agnostic, and offer composable APIs instead of top level hooks. It’s a tough criteria, and most frameworks fail to meet a lot of these requirements. However, Tanstack Start is a new framework that checks all of these boxes, aims for a very high ceiling, and slots into an amazing ecosystem of rich client-side libraries. Let’s take a look at the future of web frameworks in this session by building a sample application with Tanstack Start, witness its incredible UX and DX capabilities, and how it compares to other frameworks like Next.js and Astro.

Surprise! Svelte Secretly Sending Signals

Svelte 5 brought a brand new paradigm on the table of svelte users: Runes. Under the hood Runes uses a popular pattern for fine grained reactivity called Signals. While signals are just an implementation detail for svelte, understanding how they work and why they work and what gotchas they bring is good to be more proficient developing with Svelte. In this talk we will implement a basic version of a reactivity system with signals and go over the main gotchas.
